Two young, ordinary, healthy kids...

Our cast was growing each week. Some members left but were quickly replaced. We always had a rotating Janet. We could never keep one. Our last member was on Halloween of 82. Magenter. It was an amazing cast. There were times where some of us would get together and pratice or go over the movie. In early April we had scheduled a get together but it fell thru. I was stuck in the city. I knew that the woman who played Magenta lived close by. Got her number from our Frank and asked to crash at her place. This would be the first time I would meet her without her make up. We really did not hit it off right away but thru time we got to know more about each other...

Don't Dream it. Be it.

During the end of my Senior year of High School Rocky had stopped playing at the regular Theatre and was trying to find a home. I moved out of my parents house and so began my college days. A late November evening I heard that Rocky finally found a home at the UA Center 1 & 2. I relied on public transportation so I only had a way getting there but no way getting back.

My friend came to visit during Christmas vacation and we decided to take that step to the right. When we got there we noticed that there was a small cast that consisted of Frank, the criminologist, Rocky, Columbia and Riff Raff. Their costumes were amazing. I loved yelling lines but I was drawn to watch the cast. After the show was over I had to meet them. I walked over and asked if they needed a Brad. I had explained to them my situation about transportation and found out that their Rocky lived in the same town. Problem solved.

I was now part of a Rocky Horror Cast!

Playhouse

I joined the Fan Club and was quite excited when my Rocky Horror packaged arrived. It included a newsletter, posters and a Transylvanian Magazine. I bought the picture book and other collectables. There was a church group that my friend belong to and they were planning a trip to NYC. I had to go. It would be my first time visiting the Big City and a chance to see the Village. I was overwhelmed with all the Rocky Horror Memorbilia. I had purchased many posters and buttons. We even made a special stop at the 8th Street Playhouse. Big highlight of the whole trip.

Strange Journey

And so....My first memory of Rocky Horror was when my best friend in High School told me about a movie where people talked back at the screen and threw items related to the movie to feel like you were part of it. I thought that was so cool. That following summer we went to go see Fame and it featured a bit of the movie. My friend had leaned over to me and said that was the movie he was talking about. My friend had purchased the picture book and we researched all the lines. Remember this was before Internet.

On October 25, 1980 we traveled to Albany to go see it. We knew what to bring and say. It was amazing. I laughed so much. What an experience. From then on all thru our Junior and Senior year of High School we went every weekend. There were times that some theatres had stopped showing it but we had followed it where ever it was showing. It was some of the best times during High School.
